Senior Navy Ammunition Specialist

THOR Solutions is seeking a highly motivated Senior Navy Ammunition Logistics Specialist to support an upcoming contract at the Naval Undersea Warfare Center (NUWC) Division Newport. The specialist will support the Navy Ammunition Logistics Code (NALC) Ordnance Program for the NUWC facility.

Typical Responsibilities:

  • Ordnance Inspection Scheduling: Generate inventory count sheets and conduct monthly inventories. Upload all inventory data and address discrepancies, ensuring compliance with regulations.
  • Inventory Reporting: Generate inventory match and discrepancy reports, conducting causative research to identify and resolve discrepancies promptly. Prepare DD Form 200 and update OIS-R for gain or loss of ordnance material.
  • Ammunition Reclassification and Notices: Run daily reports for Ammunition Reclassification and Notices of Ammunition Reclassification. Review, log, and implement changes as necessary.
  • System Updates: Regularly update OIS-R and local request systems for various ordnance transactions and activities. Ensure accurate documentation for requisitions, issues, receipts, testing, expenditures, modifications, and more.
  • Physical Inspections and Safety Compliance: Conduct monthly physical inspections to ensure compliance with safety regulations. Document discrepancies and provide reports for review and approval.
  • Issuance and Receipt Handling: Prepare documents for issuance and update OIS-R accordingly. Conduct receipt inspections.
  • Account Access Requests and Technical Updates: Prepare Account Access Request Forms for OIS-R and QC numbers. Update OIS-R with technical data files, quality assurance data files, and explosive building/storage locations.
  • Operational Support and Motor Vehicle Inspections: Provide warehousing operational support, including Explosive Laden Motor Vehicle Inspections. Manage inventory, receipt, storage, and issuance within controlled warehouses and locations.
Location: Onsite at the Naval Undersea Warfare Center Division Newport, in Newport/Middletown, RI.

DoD Secret Security Clearance Eligibility Required: This position requires a DoD Secret security clearance. A qualified candidate will already possess an active or interim Secret clearance (highly preferred) or be eligible to obtain a new clearance upon hire.

Typical Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
  • Ten (10) to fifteen (15) years of experience with Navy Ammunition Logistics Code (NALC), including an in-depth knowledge of ammunition logistics, supply chain management, and explosive safety protocols.
  • At least one, and ideally all three, of the following certifications. In lieu of the below certifications, comparable U.S. military/DoD certifications may be considered:
    • Personal Ammunition and Explosives Handling Qualification and Certification.
    • Naval Explosives Safety Managers/Supervisors Orientation (AMMO-49-DL) Certification.
    • Ammunition Supply Administration (A-041-0040) Certification.
  • Proficiency with common productivity software including the Microsoft Office suite.
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills.
